Body and movement based therapy and support services

Services

psychomotor therapy

Psychomotor therapy is an experience-based form of body-orientated therapy that uses the body and movement to work towards wellbeing. Built on the idea that your body is the connecting point between your feelings, thoughts and behaviour, the body and experience become central in working on issues of mental health. Psychomotor therapy takes a holistic stance on wellbeing and health by approaching body and mind as deeply connected.

yoga

Yoga offers a safe space from where to interact with your body in a new way. Moving Through Trauma offers women-only yoga sessions to create possibilities for women to explore their body and sensations. This enables us to listen to the messages our body is giving us and to ultimately befriend the body (again). We use movement, the breath and relaxation exercises to look inwards to find and build our inner strength, self-knowledge and self-acceptance.

For who?

Moving Through Trauma provides support to children and women who are dealing with issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression and burn-out. Maybe you experienced a negative event, such as abuse, neglect or a loss, either recently or in the past. Or perhaps you are feeling unwell, in a low mood, anxious, tired or insecure without a clear reason or starting point. In any case, Moving Through Trauma can offer support and therapy for supporting you in dealing with either trauma or other challenges that life has thrown at you. Esther’s approach is characterized by her body-oriented and feminist-inspired methodology: through a body- and movement-oriented approach in which resilience and empowerment are central we work towards recovery and wellbeing together.

vision

Moving Through Trauma is strongly socially committed and builds on the belief that everyone has the right to accessible and suitable support services.

Moving Through Trauma is thus very committed to making mental health services more diverse and more inclusive.
